The California Highway has released the numbers from their New Year’s weekend maximum enforcement effort. According to the report, officers arrested more than 1140 people statewide for driving under the influence over the long weekend. They say at least 50 people were killed in crashes, adding that half of those who died were not wearing seatbelts. That number is down from Thanksgiving weekend.
