A Los Osos woman facing a number of charges including vehicular manslaughter has pleaded not guilty to charges related to the death of a local pastor. According to CHP investigators, Emily Bales had a Blood Alcohol level of .13 when she struck Pastor Dale Paulsen with her vehicle last November. He was pronounced dead at the scene and Bales, who had fled, was arrested a short time later. She’s facing up to 9 years in state prison if convicted.
