New Traffic Safety Report Contains Good News And Some Bad

A new traffic safety report for the city of San Luis Obispo shows an uptick in collisions in 2017. The good news is, crashes overall are down from the early 2000s. And the number of collisions between cyclists and vehicles dipped to 39. According to the Tribune, it’s the lowest number since 1999. One cyclist was killed by a drunk driver in 2017 and was the only traffic related death in the city that year. Gianna Brencola was sentenced to seven years in state prison for vehicular manslaughter in that case.
