It doesn’t matter which report you believe, housing costs on the Central Coast are expensive. One recent report put San Luis Obispo County in the top 10 most expensive places to buy a home. Another put the county in the Top 5. Affordable housing is an ongoing problem in California, and overall homeownership is the lowest it’s been since the 1940s. According to KSBY, San Luis Obispo is currently facing a jobs-to-housing imbalance. Some officials feel that if a solution isn’t found, a critical population could simply leave. The City plans to host a housing forum in April.
