State Parks officials say they may have a workable plan to improve air quality on the Nipomo Mesa. Just a few weeks ago Officials at the Oceano Dunes said they would not be able to cut dust emissions by 2023. Now they believe they have a plan that could reduce the dust from the dunes by 50 percent. The new plan includes: Planting native plants, converting existing wind fence areas to vegetation cover, and closing approximately 500 acres to dune riders.
