Jury Acquits Former Police Officer In Dog Mauling Case

The jury in the case of a former Grover Beach Police officer accused of involuntary manslaughter in a deadly dog mauling case returned its verdict Friday. It took jurors only a few hours of deliberations to find Alex Geiger not guilty of involuntary manslaughter and two counts of failing to maintain control of a deadly or dangerous animal. The attack led to the death of David Fear. Geiger’s attorney called the incident a tragic accident.
