Cal Poly Facing Major NCAA Sanctions

Cal Poly is facing major NCAA sanctions over financial aid violations involving 265 student-athletes in 18 sports. The university will be placed on two years of probation and will have to vacate records in which student-athletes competed when they should have been ruled ineligible. The sanctions come as a result of textbook stipends exceeding financial aid limits. Cal Poly officials say it was not the school’s intent to violate NCAA rules, Adding that when the issue was discovered, it was self-reported to the NCAA.
