Deadly Intersection Project Put On Hold

A plan to close a deadly intersection has been put on hold. Caltrans has delayed work to close the El Campo Road and Highway 101 crossing after the parent company of a local winery filed a lawsuit. Caltrans officials say the project was “suspended until further notice.” Vintage Wine Estates, the owners of Laetitia Winery, filed a petition last week. The suit claims, Caltrans violated the California Environmental Quality Act by, allegedly not looking at alternative solutions. Last October 18-year-old Cal Poly student Jordan Grant was killed in a crash at the El Campo when a car pulled out in front of him.
