Riding on the dunes at the Oceano Dunes State Vehicular Recreational Area could become just a memory. According to a recently released report by the California Coastal Commission staff, the board should take steps to transition the park to other less intensive forms of public access and recreation that do not include offroad vehicles. Visitors to the Oceano Dunes bring an estimated 243 million dollars annually to the local economy. State Parks has been working its own plan for operational changes at the park to address a number of concerns. A meeting is scheduled for July 11th, starting at 9 a.m. at the Embassy Suites in San Luis Obispo.
