Minimum Wage Workers Need To Work Close To 100 Hours A Week To Afford Average County Apartment

According to a recently released report by the National Low Income Housing Coalition, a minimum wage worker in San Luis Obispo County would have to work 99 hours a week in order to afford rent on a median-priced apartment. According to the Tribune, fair market rent for a two bedroom house or apartment averages just over 1,540 dollars a month. Two-bedroom rentals in San Luis Obispo County are only affordable for those earning $29.65 per hour, or $61,680 per year. San Luis Obispo County is currently in the top 20 least affordable places to live in California.
