Prescribed Burn For Camp SLO

Residents who live near Camp San Luis Obispo may notice smoke in the area. Officials say weather permitting, they will finish burning about 80 acres of grassland. The prescribed burn should begin between 9 and 10 a.m. and wrap up by noon. Yesterday firefighters tried to burn about 250 acres of grass and brush just west of Cuesta College. That operation was stopped early due to shifting winds. Meanwhile, California Board of Forestry members took a tour of vegetation management projects in San Luis Obispo County. The Board members say prescribed burns are necessary due to growing populations and changing climate.
