Lompoc Still Considering Tax To Close Budget Gap

Lompoc City leaders attended a luncheon yesterday to discuss their ongoing budget problems. The city recently announced 3 million dollars in budget cuts to help close a multi-million dollar gap. Officials talked about how the budget is impacting the community. City staffing and road repairs are just two items that need serious funding. That’s on top of a hiring freeze with the police department and cuts made to the fire department. A one-percent sales tax increase could show up the next ballot to help fix the city’s financial woes.
