The woman accused of embezzling more than 32,000 dollars from a local high school band booster club was in court yesterday. Sherry Gong was the treasurer of the Atascadero High School Band Booster Club when she took money from the club to help a close family member, who said he needed it, and that it was a matter of “life and death”. Gong’s attorney said she was raising money to repay what she had taken when the investigation began. Gong pleaded guilty to the charges against her and is scheduled to be sentenced in October.
