C.M.C. Riot Investigation

Four inmates were injured in a riot at San Luis Obispo’s California Men’s Colony. According to the State Department of Corrections, the fight broke out just before 1:15 yesterday afternoon in the facility ‘A’ yard. It started when a group of about 20 inmates rushed a smaller group. A short time later, 10 more inmates joined the fight. Correctional officers gave multiple orders to stop the fighting. When that didn’t work, officers used pepper spray and non-lethal projectiles. Of the four inmates that were injured, two needed to be transported to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. No staff members were injured. An investigation is ongoing.
