City Of SLO Goes Electric

With a 4-1 vote, the San Luis Obispo City Council moved closer to its goal of being carbon neutral by 2035. Following roughly four hours of discussion and public comment, the council passed an ordinance that mandates builders construct all-electric new commercial and residential buildings. City officials claim, about 40 percent of the city’s carbon emissions come from natural gas. The new all-electric construction ordinance goes into effect in January of next year.
