Santa Maria Housing Discussed

Housing was the major topic of discussion at last night’s Santa Maria city Council meeting. It started with roughly a dozen mobile home residents doing what they’ve done for more than a year, asking city officials to put a rent stabilization ordinance on the agenda. According to KEYT, some people feel like they are being forced out of their homes because of unchecked rent increases. Meanwhile, the council voted to move forward with a zoning change for a proposed 30-unit apartment complex in the southwest section of Santa Maria.
