Cal Fire Firefighters were called out to a report of a vegetation fire near Lopez Lake yesterday afternoon. The fire broke out at around 5 p.m. near the Mallard Campground at Lopez Lake. Some nearby campers were forced to evacuate. Quick work by air and ground Crews had the forward progress of the medium-sized fire halted about an hour and a half after the first call came in. Officials say about 7 acres were scorched. no injuries were reported and the cause is under investigation.
