Santa Maria Firefighters saved a small dog from a canal yesterday. Firefighters say the chihuahua had become trapped in the canal Stokes Avenue and Sugar Bush Drive. The dog was found howling, wet and dehydrated. After retrieving the chihuahua, firefighters turned it over to Animal Control.
