Santa Maria City officials have approved a plan to bring art to the city-scape. They also voted against an ordinance that would fund the city art. The goal was to provide more opportunities for artists in Santa Maria while encouraging locals to enjoy their city more often. The fees to finance the art fund would have come from additional building permit fees. Developers and the Santa Maria Valley Chamber of Commerce opposed the art fund.
