Atascadero Fire Department officials say two families have been displaced by two separate electrical fires. It started yesterday morning when firefighters were called out to a report of a house fire. When they arrived, crews found the back of the house on Santa Lucia engulfed in flames. Officials believe a fallen tree struck a power line, causing a power surge and sparks in the laundry room. A few hours later, another house fire was reported. Firefighters found a family trying to help an elderly family member escape the flames of their home on Serra Avenue. Police helped get the woman to safety. Luckily no one was seriously injured in either incident.
