You may notice something different the next time you use Uber. As a result of a new state law impacting companies that rely on gig or freelance workers in California. Uber says it’s making changes to battle the law. Uber wants to make drivers more like independent business owners. The Uber app will no longer a set price before a ride, riders in California will just get an estimate. Drivers will be able to refuse rides without consequences. Riders will be penalized if they cancel a ride. And riders are now able to request favorite drivers to pick them up.
