Declining Enrollment Could Lead To Teacher Layoffs

Declining enrollment in the Paso Robles Joint Unified School District could lead to layoffs. Officials have already cut back on busing services, saving the district about 90,000 dollars. Now, three to five high school or elective teachers could lose their jobs. The loss of about 180 students is being blamed on the high cost of living on the Central Coast. According to KSBY, Atascadero Unified School District has seen similar declines in enrollment, but the Santa Maria High School District has seen an increase of 500 students.
