Health Officials Halt Hospital Visits

San Luis Obispo County Public Health Officer Dr. Penny Borenstein issued an order prohibiting visits to healthcare facilities to protect vulnerable patients from coronavirus. According to a press release, all “non-essential” visitors will not be allowed to visit with patients, with a few exceptions. Exceptions include visits with children and end-of-life care patients. Failure to comply with the order is a misdemeanor and will be punishable by fine, imprisonment, or both. San Luis Obispo County now has 54 confirmed cases of coronavirus, four patients are currently in the hospital. Santa Barbara County is reporting 32 confirmed cases of COVID-19.
