Santa Barbara County reported 21 new cases of COVID-19 yesterday. Eight of those new cases are inmates at the federal prison in Lompoc. Health officials say 971 of the county’s 1,517 cases are at the prison. Meanwhile, the California Department of Public Health has agreed with Santa Barbara County officials and will not count the prison outbreak numbers against the county in its effort to reopen.
