The Santa Maria Police Department Tweeted last night that its fireworks detail had seized a large number of illegal fireworks. Officers were responding to numerous community complaints and handed out at least two citations. Officials say more citations are likely. People caught setting off illegal fireworks face fines up to 1,000 dollars.
