What was supposed to be a weekend of fun in the sun, turned tragic for two separate families. Sunday at around 2:00 p.m., the San Luis Obispo Sheriff’s Office responded to a possible drowning at Lake Nacimiento neat the resort ramp. 14-year-old Jonathan Barrueta was swimming with his family when he appeared to be in distress and went under the water. Bystanders tried to rescue the boy but couldn’t find him. Sheriff’s divers recovered the boy’s body. And 30-year-old female drowned at Lake Cachuma Sunday afternoon. Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Officials say her death did not appear to be suspicious in nature.
