Burglary Suspect Now Linked To Sexual Molestation

Morro Bay, CA -- Morro Bay Police Officers on January 14 investigated a reported burglary of over $3000 from a residential safe in Morro Bay. Following an investigation, Morro Bay Police Detectives arrested and booked 28-year-old Adam Joseph Bearden on suspicion of burglary. At this time, Morro Bay police do not have information which connects Bearden as a suspect to any other recent burglaries in our community.

On January 19, Morro Bay police officers and detectives investigated a separate report of ongoing child molestation by the same suspect. Detectives learned that Bearden had allegedly sexually molested a female minor for about three years. The burglary and molestation cases appear unassociated.

On the 22nd, following their initial investigation, MBPD detectives booked Bearden, who was still in custody at the county jail, for several felony sexual assault charges against a minor. MBPD Detectives are currently working closely with the San Luis Obispo County District Attorney’s Office and Child Welfare Services on filing additional criminal charges against Bearden.
