A pilot program that allowed camping along the waterfront in Morro Bay could come to an end if a group of community members has their way. A petition was presented to the City Council, citing several concerns including competition with local businesses, state campgrounds, and parking. Last week the council directed city staff to prepare a report about the effects of the proposed initiative that could make the program permanent. That report is scheduled to be presented at the March 8 meeting.
