Restrictions Could be Coming To The Dunes

Oceano Dunes is the only California State Parks beach that allows off-road vehicle activity, but that activity could be facing big changes in the future if state Senate Bill-249 is approved. Supporters of the bill say it's long overdue, while outdoor riding enthusiasts say it will be bad for tourism. The proposed bill would Require more environmental oversight by setting up a science committee to oversee and study the parks. Close damaged habitat areas for repair, mostly temporary but some cases may be permanent. Prevent future expansion of OHV lands. The bill is heading to the Assembly.
