Gas Tax Repeal Movement

June 13th, 2017

There's a movement to have Governor Jerry Brown's controversial gas tax and vehicle fee increase repealed. The new tax increase takes November 1, 2017 and will add 12 cents to a gallon of gas and 20 cents for a gallon of diesel along with increases in vehicle fees and is expected to generate more than $5 billion a year for road and highway maintenance and mass transit. Republican Assemblyman Travis Allen says the people of California never got a chance to decide on this. Supporters of the gas tax and vehicle fee increase claim it's the only way California can pay for badly need road and highway maintenance.
