Pismo Beach Police arrested an 18-year-old man after he loaded a handgun and fired several rounds. The incident started when 18-year-old Joel Vela, of Hanford, got into an argument with his girlfriend. She walked away. Witnesses say that’s when Vela loaded his handgun, firing several rounds into the sand to get her attention. According to a press release, Vela was booked into County Jail on suspicion of possession of an undetectable firearm, negligent discharge of a firearm, possession of a concealed firearm, and public intoxication.
