California Governor Gavin Newsom will be staying in the capital for the next two years. The recall effort was rejected by California voters. 64 percent of the voters were not in favor of recalling the governor. Of the candidates campaigning to replace Newsom, Larry Elder led the mixed field of Republicans and Democrats with 47 percent of the votes. Newsom will face re-election in 2022.
