Forest Service Opens Most California Forests

The U.S. Forest Service will be reopening most of the forests in California today. Forest Service officials closed 20 million acres of national forest in the state ahead of the Labor Day weekend to help the national firefighting workforce that had been stretched to its limits. According to the Tribune, today’s reopening does not include the Los Padres National Forest in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties. That will remain closed to the public until next week.
