The San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors created a five-person committee to chose a new County Clerk-Recorder. Clerk-Recorder Tommy Gong stepped down from the position in July and took a new job in the Bay Area. 44 people have applied for the position. According to the Tribune, only four have direct experience running elections. The committee will narrow down the field to seven and the supervisors will choose a replacement to serve the remainder of Gong’s term that ends in 2023.
