Atascadero Mutual Water Company has filed a liability lawsuit against three major companies. According to the Tribune, the suit was filed last month after officials found chemicals linked to cancer and other health conditions were found in wells that supply drinking water to the city. It aims to recover damages from 3M Co., DuPont and, Chemours Co., which use the chemicals. Three wells that supply the drinking water for Atascadero were contaminated and taken out of service. Officials say they have found a way to fix the contamination by filtering the water before putting it into service. They also that residents can use store bought water filters to remove anything harmful in the water before drinking.
