NASA launched a spacecraft from California’s Vandenberg Space Force Base last night. They hope the Double Asteroid Redirection Test, or DART, will ultimately crash into an asteroid in about a year from now. It’s a test run to see if impacting a space rock at high speed could change its orbit and potentially save Earth from a catastrophic event.
