Monkeypox cases have been confirmed in Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Counties and some groups say a lack of information puts everyone at risk. According to KSBY, San Luis Obispo County Public Health Officer Dr. Penny Borenstein says there is a limited supply of monkeypox vaccine, so it will not be offered to everyone. She added that she doesn’t expect to see a spike in local monkeypox cases. The CDC says though it is not classified as a sexually transmitted infection, Monkeypox is a virus that can be transmitted through close, skin-to-skin contact, including sexual contact.
