A bear spotting in Paso Robles turned into an hours-long standoff. Police first received a call about a bear roaming around near Target on Theater Drive. Officers caught up with the bear near the back of OSH and Chili’s but it scampered up a tree to escape. About two hours later, the bear came down and was darted. It went back up the tree, but the effects of the tranquilizer took over and the bear fell into a tarp. It will be relocated to the wilderness by State Fish and Wildlife.
