A car fire on Highway 166 outside of Santa Maria shut the highway down last night. At around 6:40, Fire from the engine bay of a Range Rover spread to nearby grass. The fire grew to about 20 acres and was moving into the brush. Fire crews from the Los Padres National Forest, Santa Barbara County Fire and Cal Fire were on scene trying to stop the forward progress of the flames. At last report Highway 166 was passable with possible delays.
