A judge in the case of an officer-involved traffic accident has decided to lower the amount paid to two men injured in the crash. The crash happened while the Santa Maria Police officer was looking at his in dash computer. Traffic came to a stop and he was unable to avoid rear-ending a pickup truck. A jury awarded the two men 420,000 dollars in medical expenses. The judge in the case said evidence did not support one aspect of the plaintiff’s story and reduced the amount owed by the city to 384,000 dollars.
