Carbajal Re-introduces Bill To Stop Oil Exploration in California Wildlands

Central Coast Congressman Salud Carbajal has re-introduced a bill that could permanently protect the Carrizo Plain and about 170,000 additional acres of public lands from Los Angeles to Monterey counties. The Central Coast Heritage Protection Act would designate those public lands as new wilderness, protecting them from oil drilling and other human impacts. Last year the Bureau of Land Management approved the creation of a new oil well and small pipeline. Carbajal believes it’s time to remind the public what’s at stake.
