A woman suffered major injuries over the weekend after crashing her vehicle into a tree off Highway 41 West near Atascadero. According to Atascadero fire officials, the crash happened near Los Altos just before 3 Saturday afternoon. Rescuers needed to use hydraulic cutters to remove the roof of the vehicle to get the woman out. She was transported to Sierra Vista Regional Hospital and was last reported to be in serious condition. An investigation into how she left the road is ongoing.
