A 20-year-old Cal Poly student is awake after spending 3 weeks in a medically induced coma. Keilani Waxdeck has been in the coma since a car accident early last month. She and a couple of friends were on their way to view the Super Bloom for a photo session when they were involved in a head-on collision with a Bakersfield man. Waxdeck was transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. She has endured 10 surgeries over the past three weeks and is scheduled for an 11th. Her family and friends consider her awakening a victory on her road to recovery.
