Atascadero Police are on the lookout for a suspect who was involved in a brief crime spree yesterday afternoon. Officers responded to a report of an injury traffic collision on Del Rio Road just before 2 p.m… When they arrived they were told that a resident had discovered someone trying to steal their vehicle. The suspect fled in the car, crashing into another car. Then into a tree. The suspect brandished a gun when they were confronted by witnesses and fled. While searching for the suspect, police came across an unrelated vehicle with occupants, a loaded handgun, a loaded shotgun, and narcotics. Two people were arrested as a result. The original suspect is still at large.
