In the past five months, Ten people have died in San Luis Obispo from fentanyl overdoses. According to the San Luis Obispo County Public Health Department’s press release, that’s an alarming increase. Health officials warn that the synthetic opioid can be found in a number of street drugs including heroin, cocaine, and methamphetamine. Fentanyl is used legitimately by doctors to ease pain from surgery and in cancer patients. But it can also be made illegally.
