Here’s a quick reminder; It’s illegal to climb Morro Rock. There are signs posted around the rock to let visitors know not to scale the landmark. But those signs don’t seem to deter some people. A man from Pennsylvania needed to be escorted from the top of the rock by Morro Bay firefighters yesterday. He received a ticket from State Parks that includes a fine, and officials say he’ll be charged an extra 2,000 dollars for the fire department’s response. Morro Rock is an ecological preserve for peregrine falcons and a site of cultural significance to Native Americans.
