Homeless Population On The Rise

America’s homeless population’s gone up by nearly three percent, driven by a spike in California, according to an annual one-night count that took place last January. According to the federal Housing Department’s annual count, obtained by The Associated Press, there are an estimated 568 thousand homeless people. Two-thirds were living in a shelter or transitional housing. California, the most populous state, has invested a billion dollars toward the problem, says Governor Gavin Newsom, adding that the federal government needs to help.
