Assemblyman Jordan Cunningham announced yesterday that his bill to increase transparency surrounding police sexual assault investigations has made it through the Assembly. He says AB 1599 was inspired by an alleged sexual assault case involving Paso Robles P.D. Officer Chris McGuire and the inability of Central Coast news agencies to obtain information about the case from the department. AB 1599 is meant to close a loophole in a previous police transparency bill. It now moves to the Senate.
