Strawberry growers in the county could soon feel the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Health officials are predicting the peak of the pandemic between now and July. That happens to be peak harvesting time for strawberries. But shoppers have altered their shopping habits. Shopping less often and buying fewer strawberries. According to the California Strawberry Commission, sales are projected to be down by as much as 30 percent.
