A Central Coast chapter of the NAACP plans to protest this afternoon in Santa Maria, Lompoc, and San Luis Obispo. Organizers say the protests will honor George Floyd, who died when a police officer knelt on his neck for almost nine minutes. Several organizations have teamed with the NAACP to guide protesters on a march down Broadway in Santa Maria, keeping on the sidewalk, following traffic signals, and social distancing. The protest in Santa Maria runs from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm at City Hall. The protest in Lompoc runs from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm at North H and Central. The protest in San Luis Obispo runs from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the SLO County Courthouse.
